We Cavalier King Charles spaniels are almost unique in the dog world. (Actually we ARE unique; but a little modesty never hurts). While it is true that we were bred for a particular purpose just like all those other doggie types out there, we are one of the few remaining breeds to go on proudly fulfilling our traditional function. Reflect one moment on the life the typical family dog leads in this modern world. Do pet labradors plunge daily into swampy rivers to retrieve game freshly shot down for them by their hunter owners; does your average pet border collie herd a milling pack of sheep safetly into their pen most evenings before bedtime? How many modern day Dalmations have you seen running in smartly-spotted formation at the wheels of a coach and four? Do cavalier king charles spaniels still lie curled up on a chosen human favourite's lucky lap, keeping knees and hearts warm. Oh! Why goodness me YES! That is exacty what we still do!
